General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer
Mike has served as our General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer since 2003, and has an extensive background representing clients in the mortgage and financial services industry. Mike served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Mortgage.com, the first publicly traded provider of online mortgage and other e-commerce financial services to consumers and businesses in the U.S. with nationwide operations in mortgage lending, software development, licensing and marketing e-commerce, finance and technology services. Mike has over 15 years of experience representing significant clients which provide mortgage and technology products to the financial services industry, has been a guest speaker at the MBA technology conference, and is the author of “On Line Financial Service Leaders-A Report From Cyberspace, Mortgage and Consumer Lenders, What they are doing, how they are doing it and what are they going to do next?” The Florida Bar Lecture Series.
In addition, Mike has over twenty years of successful experience representing prominent publicly traded multi-national corporations: he served as chief legal officer (and for a term of 2 years as CEO) for Orange-Co, Florida’s leading publicly traded citrus producer (NYSE); chief legal officer for Burnup & Sims (n/k/a Mastec), a leading publicly traded telecommunication construction company (NYSE), and also served four years as Deputy City Attorney for the City of West Palm Beach, Florida, during which he managed a nine lawyer department responsible for all legal functions of the largest city in Palm Beach County Florida.
Mike received his Doctor of Laws (J.D.) from Stetson University College of Law, in St. Petersburg, Florida and is admitted to The Florida Bar, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the United States Court of Appeal for the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
